This work is due on Friday, April 26.

3. Review the math reference sheet which you will be able to use on the AP exam. Choose one topic or formula and develop a word problem which would require its use. Make sure the math problem is linked to a biological concept. Post this question on the Math Review 2013 Page of the WIKI. (10 points)

4. Write an original essay question which includes 3 parts and links together at least two of the Big Ideas. Post your essay on the WIKI page entitled Review Essays 2013. Again, make sure to include your name. (10 points)

5. Pass in the solution to your math problem as well as a set of grading standards for your essay.

This work id due on Monday, April 29.

What is a wiki?

A wiki is a website that can be edited by anyone. In this case, you and I will be the authors of this wiki!

Last year's students created a Wiki for the purpose of review for the AP exam. You can check out their work by going to any of the pages under 2012. This year we will be using it for a number of purposes.

  • First, there will be a page for each unit on which assignments will be posted. This page will also contain links to resources you might find helpful. Remember YOU are the authors of this WIKI so if you find a link, video or reference that you think your classmates would benefit from, please share it on the appropriate unit page.

  • Second, you will be collaborating with your lab partners to produce your final lab reports for each of the labs we conduct. These will be posted on the wiki.

  • Third, I am providing two different RSS newfeeds to allow you to keep informed regarding news in biology. Each week you should choose one of these articles, summarize it and discuss how you think it illustrates one of the four Big Ideas.

Big Idea 1: The process of evolution drives the diversity and unity of life
Big idea 2: Biological systems utilize free energy and molecular building blocks to grow, reproduce and to maintain dynamic homeostasis.
Big idea 3: Living systems store, retrieve, transmit and respond to information essential to life processes
Big idea 4: Biological systems interact, and these systems and their interactions possess complex properties.

  • Fourth, Who knows where this WIKI will take us?? There are many different uses, so we will be open to new ideas as they arise. Feel free to make suggestions!
